I found it really interesting that they even had this on blog things.

You Should Follow Christianity
You believe in the Holy Trinity, and that Jesus walked the earth as the son of God.
You also believe that all people sin and that God will forgive you for your sins.

Your relationship with God is very important to you.
You strengthen your faith through prayer, worship, and Bible study.

Submission Part Four

This summer my focus rested much more on leading Biblically than on submitting to authority Biblically. However, I learned that the two go hand in hand. To be able to lead well and understandingly you must also be able to submit to the authority that you have been intrusted to. In most circumstances, we, as adults, have been given times when we must submit and also opportunity and responsibilities to lead. The two will happen simultaneously. I don't know of a Biblical application of the top of my head why one must learn to submit to be able to lead well however it is what I have learned in my own life and through observing others and the story of Moses does come to mind. He had to submit to the Lord's will in the wilderness for many years and then submit to the Lord in going before pharaoh. When Moses was faithful to submit to God, God put him in a great place of leadership for the children of Israel. When we are willing to submit to our authorities they are much more likely to pick us for leadership opportunities. So faithfulness in such an area is well worth the wait if you feel called to be a leader. Even if you do not desire to lead the benefits of submitting include gaining the trust of your authorities and those who observe your lifestyle around you and your authorities....and when you are out of the sight of those in charge of you.

Third Location

The third location for our summer may well have been the easiest for me. We had 108 children come and both teams who had been working in separate locations came together for this one camp. We enjoyed being together and enjoyed the business of the many children. I enjoyed getting to work with the other director and have her be the one in charge. My job was primarily in the background. I walked around checking on every thing and every one. I also taught the Bible lesson to the younger kids. It was fun to teach to a larger group and it was fun to explain the story of Nehemiah for 5-7 year olds. My favorite part was the comradely and unity between leaders this week. Also several children came to the saving knowledge of Christ which is always exciting.

Second Location

The second place that we had camps was at Goshen Community Church. It is a beautiful little church near the Nooksack reservation. A happy pastor and his wife live in the parsonage by the church and were a great encouragement and role model for me. At this camp one child came to Christ and we were able to build strong relationships with several others. It is probably the camp that I feel the best about and have many happy memories talking with the kids and playing around with them. Also it was a great group of kids to experiment with various tactics for teaching Bible lessons. The beloved Peter brought great amusement to every one, Edmund was almost adopted as a daddy, and Susan and Lucy were by far the coolest people in the world to hang out with. Yes, there were many happy memories at that camp. There were also many many tears. Satan doesn't like the joy that we felt in our work on the unity that we could have had or the children who responded readily to the gospel and to the applications of the Bible lesson. This being said, we know that our God wins!

Age-Long Minute

Hold us in quiet through the age-long minute
While Thou art silent and the wind is shrill
Can the boat sink while Thou, dear Lord, art in it?
Can the heart faint that waiteth on Thy will?

First Location

Well where shall one start but at the beginning. The beginning of this summer started us on a bumpy start. We were at a location that we could not leave our supplies at over night so load and unload crafts, treasure chests, snacks etc. every day. It certainly made things more interesting also that the location was also very small and all the way out in Sumas (about 45 minutes to an hour away for you non Whatcom county people). The location may have been difficult but the children were responsive and interested in the gospel and had many good questions. Also the church we were working with there seems to be truly on fire for the Lord. The sweet, sweet woman that helped to get us the location that we were at will do a marvelous job with following up with the kids.

Our Soul's Deep Need

God never hurts us needlessly
And He never wastes our pain,
For every loss He sends to use
If followed by rich gain...
And when we count the blessings
That God has freely sent,
We will find no cause for murmuring
And no time to laments...
For our Father loves His children,
And to Him all things are plain,
So He never sends us pleasure
When the SOUL'S DEEP NEED IS PAIN...
So whenever we are troubled and when every thing goes wrong,
It is just God working in us
To make OUR SPIRITS STRONG!

back to writing

Well this entire summer I have spent very little time thinking about Biblical submission. Actually most of it I spent thinking about how to be a good leader. In case you wanted to know, following is quite easy compared to leading. I found that out the hard way. I will try to fill you in to the best of my ability on the details of the camp after which I will finish the series and perhaps start one on the things I learned about leadership.

Oh, and if you have any questions about Narnia....ask Edmund.
